Research Project

Dynamic Conversion of Coordination Chirality and Time Profile Control

Co-Investigator

Yoko Sakata (Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, Kanazawa University)

Abstract

We develop a new type of dynamic conversion systems in which the “coordination chirality” can be changed according to external stimuli. We use tris(salen)-based single helical complexes and cage-like triple helical complexes as the basic scaffold for the dynamic systems. We investigate the response speed and profiles in the coordination chirality after stimulation. For example, we construct a system in which the coordination chirality can be controlled by recognition of metal ions and organic molecules or by changes in the pH, potential, temperature, pressure, etc. In addition, we make a relay system in which chemical information is transferred for two or more steps. We are also planning to investigate the dynamic conversion of the coordination chirality on solid surfaces by using the helical complexes immobilized onto the solid surfaces.
