Isolation of asymmetry gold clusters and elucidation of their catalytic activity

Abstract

Small thiolate-protected gold clusters (Figure) have high potentials as functional nanomaterials since these clusters exhibit size-specific structures and functions which are absent in bulk. Among them, several gold clusters have optical isomers (Figure). In this study, we separate each optical isomer at high resolution using high performance liquid chromatography and elucidate their asymmetric catalytic activity. Through these studies, we intend to produce the gold clusters with asymmetric catalytic activity.
