Research Project

Development of supramolecular lanthanide assemblies

Abstract

The aim of this research project is development of supramolecular lanthanide(III) assemblies showing excellent chiroptical performance such circular dichroism and circular polarized luminescence. The lanthanide(III) complexes show the remarkable spectroscopic features of its intra 4f emission; such as, narrow emission bands, large Stokes shifts enabling invisible security tagging/printing, and a wide variety of emission wavelengths from the visible to near-infrared (NIR) spectral regions. However, these unique spectroscopic features have been exploited by mononuclear lanthanide(III) complexes. This research project would expand the scope of chiroptical properties of lanthanide(III) (typically circular polarized luminescence) by development of coordination-driven self-assembly of the lanthanide(III) complex.
