Electron Microscopic Analysis of Aperiodic Reaction Intermediates in Synthesis of Coordination Compounds

Abstract

This study aims at accumulating fundamental understandings on formation mechanism of coordination compounds by capturing the reaction intermediates the single-molecule real-time electron microscopic (SMART-EM) imaging method. We will demonstrate the generality of the method for mechanistic study of coordination chemistry by improving accuracy of the structural analysis. The reaction pathway of the complex formation from the asymmetric structure to the periodic ordered structure is obtained by determining the structure of the nanometer-sized initial intermediate of the coordination polymer structure in atomic resolution.
