Abstract

We aim for controlling functions and physical properties through directional transfer and conversion of molecular information (energy, spin, phase, structure etc.) based on asymmetric space providing high anisotropy and directionality. We develop rational construction methods for asymmetric or chiral arrangement of functional molecular units along the following four subjects. (1) Construction of asymmetric porous coordination frameworks consisting of asymmetric metal complexes, bridging ligands and co-ligands. (2) Sequential synthesis of asymmetric porous frameworks having alternate arrangement of different components. In such asymmetric frameworks bring anisotropic host-guest interaction to restrict guest orientation. We investigate new control mechanism of functions and physical properties by inducing anisotropic arrangement changes of confined guest molecules. (3) Formation of hierarchical and anisotropic arrangement of functional metal complexes by Integration of cyclic metal cluster and polyoxometallate, and (4) by incorporation of lipophilic functional metal complexes into a lipid bilayer.
