Research Project

Development of the Asymmetric Functions of Polyaromatic Molecular Capsules

Abstract

The purpose of this research project is the creation of asymmetric nanospaces with unique properties. We have already synthesized molecular capsules with a highly symmetrical cavity by spontaneous and quantitative assembly of bent polyaromatic ligands and metal ions. The polyaromatic cavity displays a wide range of host capabilities toward simple organic molecules. In this project, we will synthesize new molecular capsules with an asymmetric cavities and explore unusual chemical and physical behaviors within the capsules for the development of functional asymmetric nano spaces.
