Research Project

Creation of Functional Nano Materials as a Mold for Asymmetric Coordination Space

Abstract

In this research project, we will create nanospace templates for the fabrication of new nanomaterials via the rational design of Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and asymmetric coordination spaces as nanosized functional reaction fields.  In particular, unprecedented functional nanomaterials will be prepared using new templates based on asymmetric coordination interfaces and nanospaces.  We will utilize a variety of anisotropic spaces as functional nanosized templates to dynamically translate, replicate, or transfer their molecular information, allowing 1) the control in the structures and functions of resulting polymers and molecular assemblies and 2) the creation of new chemical systems that can amplify the minuscule molecular asymmetry.
