Synthetic Studies on Axially Chiral Molecules Based-on pai-Expanded Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Their Chiroptical Properties


I develop the three research topics as follows. 1) Synthetic studies on new axially chiral molecules based on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, e.g., pyrene-based bipyrenol A and perylene-based biperylenol.  2) Synthetic studies on metal complexes using the ligands, B and C.  Because these complexes are chiral, chiroptical properties will be studied.  3) Molecular design and synthesis of a model compounds based on B or C to mimic naturally occurring photosynthesis.  I suppose the model compound must be chiral because all of the chromophores participating to photosynthesis are chiral.
