Research Project Creation of Novel Functional π-Conjugated Metal Complexes with Topological Porphyrinoids
Abstract In this project, novel large p-conjugated chiral metal complexes formed based on the specific motifs of topological structures (e.g., knots, catenanes, Möbius strip, etc.) will be developed with an aim of investigating their intrinsic optical, magnetic, and electro-conductive properties. Inspired by unique skeletons of naturally occurring linear/cyclic tetrapyrrole species, large oligopyrrolic compounds can be considered to be suitable platforms for building up the π-conjugated helically-twisted multi-nuclear metal complexes as molecular solenoid models. In addition, a new p-conjugated mechanically interlocked molecules (MIMs) composing of the oligopyrrolic macrocycles as the ring components will be developed to elucidate their spatial interactions between the p-conjugated ring moieties intertwined mutually.
